Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree of English literature. Mitchell began her career as a radio and TV reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In the following two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988, she became the chief reporter for Congress. Then, in 1992 she was appointed chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was a panelist at the debates in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered in the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. The reporting she did included plenty of significant stories, including the Iran-contra affair, the tax and budget reforms in addition to the issue of arms control. She traveled widely with President Reagan to meet together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
